  • 1 1/2 c. margarine or butter (room temperature)
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • colored sugar (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Mix softened margarine or butter with sugars and eggs and vanilla.

    Beat well.

    Sift together flour, cream of tartar and baking soda.

    Add to batter, blend well.

    Drop cookies from a teaspoon on ungreased baking sheet.

    Bake 8 minutes, makes about 8 dozen.
