- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 3/8 c. milk
Directions

1Place either fresh or canned fruit in the bottom of a baking dish.

2Add the sugar and water.

3(Syrup from the canned fruit may be substituted for the water if desired).

4Mix and sift dry ingredients.

5Cut in the shortening and add the milk.

6Mix lightly and spread dough over the fruit in a buttered baking dish.

7Bake at 450° for 30 minutes.
