  • 1 stick butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 eggs, beaten

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Put the butter, molasses and sugar in a bowl.

    Pour in the boiling water and stir.

    Sift together the dry ingredients.

    When the mixture in the bowl is cool, add the dry ingredients, along with the eggs.

    Stir until smooth.

    Pour the batter into a greased 8 x 8-inch baking pan and bake for about 1 hour.
