Cocoa Walnut Fudge

Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts

Directions

    Blend sugar, cocoa and cream of tartar.

    Slowly stir in milk until sugar is dissolved.

    Do not stir the mixture after it begins to boil.

    Cover for the first 5 minutes of boiling, then uncover and boil until soft ball stage.

    Remove from heat.

    Drop in butter, but do not stir.

    When fudge has cooled down some, add vanilla and nuts.

    Beat until creamy.

    Pour into a 9 x 9-inch dish.
