  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. unsifted flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut

Directions

    Cream together the margarine and 1/2 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add 1 cup flour; mix well.

    In a 9 x 13-inch pan, bake at 375° for 12 minutes.

    In another bowl, mix together the remaining 1 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup flour.

    Blend eggs, vanilla and salt.

    Fold in pecans and coconut.

    Spread mixture evenly over baked layer.

    Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.

    Cool; cut into bars.
