  • 2 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 pkg. chocolate chips

    Melt shortening.

    Add brown sugar and stir well.

    Cool slightly.

    Add the eggs, one at a time.

    Beat well.

    Add the dry ingredients and mix well.

    Stir in the remaining ingredients and mix well.

    Bake in a 9 x 13-inch greased pan at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
