Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. Crisco
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts (optional)
  • 1 (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt shortening.

    Add brown sugar and eggs, beat well, then add vanilla and nuts.

    Mix in flour.

    Pour batter into 2 pans, 10 x 7 x 3/4-inch pans.

    Sprinkle 1/2 cup chocolate chips over each pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350°.

    If you shake pan as batter begins to rise it will make batter fall and become chewy.

    Cut into bars or squares.
