- 3/4 c. corn meal
- 1 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk or buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 2 Tbsp. melted fat
Directions

1Mix and sift dry ingredients; add egg, milk and melted fat. Bake in shallow greased pan in moderate oven, 350°, for 20 minutes.

2If buttermilk is used, use only 2 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon soda.

3Drizzle caramel icing over cake.
