- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. shortening, melted
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. parsley
- 1 (12 oz.) can whole kernel corn
Directions

1Heat 1 1/2-inches fat to 375°.

2Sift flour and next 3 items together.

3Combine egg, milk and shortening.

4Pour into flour mixture and stir until just smooth.

5Add parsley and corn; drop by tablespoons into hot fat.

6Fry 3 to 5 minutes, turning as they rise.

7Drain on absorbent paper.

8Serve hot with syrup.
