Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz.) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • Crisco oil for frying
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. dairy sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco oil
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. white pepper

Directions

    Combine all ingredients except Crisco oil for frying in medium mixing bowl.

    Mix well.

    Let stand 1 hour.

    Heat 2 to 3 inches Crisco oil in deep fryer or large saucepan to 350°.

    Drop batter by heaping tablespoonfuls into hot Crisco oil.

    Fry, a few at a time, 5 to 6 minutes, or until deep golden brown.

    Drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining batter.

    Serve immediately or keep warm in 175° oven.
