- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 1/3 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. celery salt
- 1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 1 (12 oz.) can whole kernel corn (1 1/2 c. drained)
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Melt butter or margarine and set aside to cool.

2Sift together and set aside the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, celery salt and monosodium glutamate.

3Drain contents of corn.

4Put into a large bowl with well-beaten egg and milk.

5Add melted shortening, mix until corn is evenly distributed throughout mixture. Gradually add dry ingredients, blending well after each addition. Test griddle, it is hot enough for baking, when drops of water sprinkled on surface dance in small beads.
