  • 1 c. butter or oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. grated nutmeg
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. corn meal
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Cream butter.

    Add sugar gradually and cream well.

    Beat in eggs until light and fluffy.

    Add vanilla. Sift together the remaining ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well.

    Roll on lightly floured board and cut with a 2-inch cookie cutter.

    Bake at 325° until lightly browned and crispy (12 to 15 minutes).

    Sprinkle with granulated sugar before baking.
