Corn Tomato Chowder

- 2 oz. bacon
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 1/2 c. or 1 (No. 2) can whole grain corn
- 1 1/2 c. diced tomatoes
- 2 c. diced potatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- dash of pepper
- 1 qt. boiling water
- 1 c. evaporated milk
Directions

1Cut bacon in small pieces and fry slowly to a golden brown in a large saucepan. Add onion and cook slowly without browning for 5 minutes. Add corn, potatoes and tomatoes in alternate layers. Sprinkle with salt, sugar and pepper, then add water.

2Cook slowly until potatoes are tender.

3Remove from heat and stir milk in slowly. Serves 6 to 8.
