- 1 1/2 c. white cornmeal
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 4 Tbsp. Crisco shortening
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients together, then add eggs and buttermilk. Mix together well.

2Best to use iron skillet.

3Put Crisco in iron skillet; heat in oven until melted.

4Add about half of melted Crisco to cornbread mix; mix well.

5Pour into iron skillet.

6Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 425°.
