  • 1/3 c. cornmeal
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 4 c. flour
  • melted butter

Directions

    Cook meal, sugar, salt, shortening and milk in a saucepan until thick (like cereal).

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Add yeast that has been dissolved in warm water.

    Add eggs and beat.

    Add flour to form soft dough.

    Knead.

    Cover and let rise.

    Punch down.

    Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.

    Brush with butter.

    Let rise. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.
