- 1 pkg. yeast (dry)
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. cold water
- 4 c. flour
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 c. cornmeal
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water.

2Pour milk over shortening, sugar and salt.

3Add cold water.

4Add 1 cup flour, egg and yeast.

5Beat. Add cornmeal and flour to make soft dough.

6Knead until smooth. Cover and let rise about 1 hour.

7Punch, cover and let rise 10 minutes.

8Shape into rolls and let rise 45 minutes.

9Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes.
