- 1/2 c. flour or 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 baked 9-inch pastry shell
Directions

1Mix flour, sugar and salt and gradually add hot milk.

2Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils.

3Cook 2 minutes; remove from heat.

4Add butter and vanilla; cool slightly.

5Pour into pastry shell.

6Cool.

7Cover with meringue made of egg whites and 6 tablespoons of sugar.
