Crisp Deep-fried Tofu

- 1 block Firm tofu
- 4 leaves Shiso leaves
- 1 Katakuriko
- 1 Mentsuyu
Directions

1Drain the firm tofu.

2Line a plate with a paper towel, then place the tofu on top.

3Microwave for 3 minutes, change the paper towel, then microwave for 3 more minutes.

4Cut the shiso leaves into thin strips and soak in a bowl of cold water.

5Chop the tofu into 8 pieces (4 cuts vertically and 2 cuts horizontally).

6Sprinkle katakuriko over the tofu.

7Once the katakuriko has absorbed some of of the water, sprinkle more katakuriko.

8Pour a small amount of oil into a pan and fry the tofu.

9Once the cubes of tofu begin to brown, flip them over.

10Serve the tofu on a plate and thoroughly cover in mentsuyu.

11Garnish with the sliced shiso leaves.
