Crockpot Pea Soup

Ingredients
- 1 ham bone or 2 -3 pork neck bones
- 2 (32 ounce) containers chicken broth or (32 ounce) containers stock
- 2 (16 ounce) bags dried split peas
- 4 carrots
- 2 onions
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 cups water
- salt and pepper
Directions

1dice onions and saute in the olive oil until soft then add to crock pot.

2peel and slice the carrots and add to crock pot

3add bone(s), stock, and garlic powder to crock pot.

4add water. you may add water to achieve volume or final density you desire (I usually maximize the space in my crock pot, and this results in a less dense soup that doesn't turn into pudding in the fridge).

5salt and pepper to taste.

6you may opt to make a stock from the pork bone(s) in your crock pot overnight the night before. This makes it easier to remove the bones and cartilage, then just add everything else.
