Cucumber Pickle

- 10 medium cucumbers, washed (good and free of spots)
- 8 c. sugar
- 5 Tbsp. salt
- 4 c. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spices (optional)
Directions

1Put cucumbers in stone jar.

2Cover with boiling water and let stand until next morning.

3Drain well.

4Cover with boiling water. Repeat for 3 days.

5On the fifth day, drain and dry well the cucumbers.

6Slice in 1/2-inch pieces.

7Combine sugar, salt and vinegar.

8Add spices if desired (I don't use spices).

9Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers.

10Let stand 2 days.

11On third day, bring to a boil. Can and seal.

12Boiling water bath is recommended. These are very good and brickel. If you have any left over, they do not turn soft.
