Cucumber Pickles

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. whole cucumbers
  • 4 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. pickling spice
  • 4 Tbsp. alum
  • white vinegar
  • 10 c. sugar

Directions

    Wash cucumbers.

    Put in gallon jar.
  3. 3
    Add salt, pickling spice and alum. Fill the jar with vinegar.

    Seal and let set for 3 months.

    Pour off solution (do not keep).

    Slice cucumbers.

    Put in large container. Add the sugar. Stir well.

    Let set for 24 hours.

    (Sugar will make canning solution.)

    Put in jars and seal. Can be kept in refrigerator.
