- 1 c. milk
- 2 egg yolks or 1 whole egg
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Scald the milk in a double boiler.

2Beat the egg yolks slightly.

3Add sugar and salt.

4Add the milk, a little at a time, stirring constantly.

5Return to the double boiler and cook over hot, not boiling water, until mixture coats spoon, stirring constantly.

6Remove at once.

7Cool and add vanilla.

8Serves 6.
