- 1 pkg. dates
- 2 c. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 c. oatmeal
- 1/4 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. water
- 2/3 c. oil
Directions

1Cook the dates and water; cool slightly, then add the vanilla. Set this mixture aside.

2Mix together the next 6 ingredients. Add the water and oil to dry ingredients.

3Use a little more than half on the bottom of a lightly greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

4Cover with dates.

5Spread the remainder on top.

6Bake at 375° for 25 minutes.
