- 12 tbsp (1 1/2 sticks) butter, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pitted dried dates or prunes
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 None eggs, lightly beaten
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 350°F. Generously grease an 8-inch Bundt pan.

2Combine the butter, milk, sugar and dates in a large saucepan. Using a wooden spoon, stir on medium heat until the butter melts. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and stir in the baking soda. Let stand for 10 mins.

3Stir in the flours and egg. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan.

4Bake for about 40 mins. Cool in pan 5 mins. Remove from pan; cool completely on wire rack.
