- 1 c. finely chopped dates
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Combine dates and water; bring to a boil.

2Simmer 5 minutes; cool.

3Set aside 2 tablespoons date mixture for frosting.

4Beat in egg, sugar and buttermilk.

5Stir together flour, salt, baking powder and soda.

6Add to egg mixture.

7Stir in nuts.

8Drop from a teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

9Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
