Ingredients

  • 1 c. dates, diced
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. Dromedary cherries (1/2 green and 1/2 red)
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Directions

    Cover dates, sugar and butter with boiling water.

    Add all other ingredients, but soda, blending well.

    Add soda, mix well. Pour into a greased and floured Bundt or tube pan.

    Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.

    Cake test with toothpick.

    Cool and invert onto a rack.

    Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
