- 1 c. dates
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. walnuts
Directions

1Cut dates and raisins and sprinkle with baking soda.

2Pour boiling water over this mixture and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Cream butter and sugar.

3Add eggs, beating until smooth.

4Add date mixture, flour and nuts.

5Bake in 4 greased cans (the size of 15 ounce Hunt's tomato sauce).

6Bake in 350° oven for 1 hour.
