  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, cut up
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Pour boiling water over dates, butter and sugar.

    Cool.

    Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to the date mixture.

    Stir in egg and vanilla.

    Mix thoroughly.

    Add nuts.

    Pour into a lightly greased loaf pan.

    Bake at 375° for 5 minutes or slightly longer, then reduce heat to 300°.
