  • 1 (1 lb.) pkg. chopped dates
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 lb. margarine

    Combine dates, soda and water; cool.

    Cream margarine and add sugar gradually.

    Sift flour and salt together.

    Add eggs and vanilla to creamed mixture.

    Blend in flour mixture.

    Add in date mixture and nuts; mix well and pour into greased loaf pans.

    Bake for 1 hour at 325°.
