  • 1 1/4 c. (8 oz.) dates, cut up
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 pecans, cut up

    Pour water over dates; stir in baking soda and set aside to cool.
