Date Nut Cherry Cake

- 1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries (whole or halves)
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates (whole or halves)
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. sugar
- dash of vanilla extract
Directions

1Beat eggs and vanilla in bowl.

2In another bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking powder and salt.

3Add fruit and nuts into this mixture.

4Blend fruit mixture into egg mixture.

5Add this mixture to flour mixture.

6Grease a 5 x 9-inch loaf pan.

7Line pan with brown paper bag and grease it.

8Pour batter and spread evenly. Bake at 325°

9for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until done.

10If desired, sprinkle with shot of whisky over top of cool cake. Freezes well, wrap in foil to freeze.

11Don't put liquor on, if freezing.
