Deep Dish Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 stick Parkay margarine
  • approximately 3 pt. sliced apples (prefer sweet ones that don't cook up)
  • 3/4 c. light brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. self-rising flour (heaping)
  • 1 Tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 can Pillsbury flaky biscuits or homemade if you prefer

Directions

    Melt 3/4 stick of Parkay margarine in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.

    Distribute to cover bottom and coat sides.

    Add apples, spreading evenly.

    Combine brown sugar, flour and spice.

    Sprinkle liberally over apples.

    Put in 375° oven and cook 45 minutes, stirring a couple of times.

    Okay if juicy.

    Carefully remove from oven and top with flaky biscuits pulled apart into halves.

    Top biscuits with 1/4 stick of margarine (a dab to each) and you may sprinkle top with brown sugar or spice very lightly.
