  • 3 lb. venison
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/8 tsp. savory salt
  • 1/8 tsp. celery salt
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. milk

Directions

    Trim roast of all fat and connecting tissue.

    Brown meat in shortening in a Dutch oven.
  3. 3
    Sprinkle with seasonings.

    Place 1 tablespoon soup mix over meat and the remainder in bottom of pan. Pour water around meat and cook, covered tightly, at 325° for 2 hours until tender.

    Remove meat to heated platter.

    Add flour to pan drippings; blend well.

    Add milk; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.

    Serve with roast.
