  • 4 lb. pickling cucumbers
  • 2 qt. water
  • 2 c. white vinegar
  • 1/2 c. kosher salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 1 stalk dill
  • 6 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 hot pepper (optional)

Directions

    Fill 1-gallon size jar with cucumber spears, dill, garlic and pepper.

    Boil water, vinegar, salt, sugar and bay leaves for 3 minutes.

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Cover cucumbers with brine; seal and refrigerate overnight.

    Can be stored in refrigerator without having to seal in boiling water (canning jars).
