  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c. pecans, chopped
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 egg whites, beaten until stiff

    Cream butter, shortening and egg yolks.

    In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients.

    Add to creamed mixture gradually, alternating with buttermilk.

    Fold in pecans.

    Add vanilla.

    Fold in egg whites.

    Pour into well-greased Bundt pan and bake at 350° for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
