  • 1 cup toor dhal
  • 1 small onion,1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil

Directions

    put the toor dhal & 3 cups of cold water into a pan & bring to the boil Simmer for about 25 min. until slightly soft. Drain

    Heat the cumin in the oil, add onion, garlic & ginger & fry until the onion has browned slightly.

    add tomatoes & fry until the oil starts to separate. Add the dhal & return to the boil.

    Cook for 2 min.,adding remaining spices & lemon juice. Season & serve with rice
