  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 1 qt. vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. pickling spices (put in a cheesecloth bag)
  • 30 to 40 medium cucumbers, sliced or cut into fourths lengthwise
  • green dill weed
  • 1 qt. water

    Combine sugar, salt, vinegar, water and spices.

    Simmer 15 minutes.

    Pack cukes into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Put a head of dill weed in each jar on top of cucumbers.

    Heat; bring to boiling.

    Pour over cukes.

    Seal jars.

    Process in boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Remove from water; place on towels. Cover with towels until cool.

    Store in a cool, dark place.
