  • 1 c. salt
  • 2 c. vinegar
  • 9 1/2 c. water
  • dill seed
  • onion
  • garlic
  • alum

Directions

    Let salt, water and vinegar come to a boil.

    Keep warm.

    Fill jars with cucumbers.

    Add lump of alum (size of a pea), 2 slices of onion, 2 cloves of garlic and 2 teaspoons of dill seed.

    Fill jars with hot liquid and seal jars.

    Makes 6 to 7 jars.
