Dilled Vegetable Sticks

Ingredients

  • 2 c. water
  • 3/4 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. chopped fresh dill weed or 1 1/2 tsp. dried whole dill weed
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 lb. fresh whole green beans
  • 3 large carrots, cut into julienne strips
  • 3 stalks celery, cut into julienne strips

Directions

    Combine the first 7 ingredients in a large saucepan.

    Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.

    Add beans, carrots and celery.

    Return mixture to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.

    Place vegetables in a shallow container; pour vinegar mixture over vegetables.

    Cover and chill at least 8 hours.

    Yields 4 to 6 servings.
