Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. white Karo
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped (optional)

Directions

    Stir and mix well all ingredients except eggs and nuts.

    Do not stir again after first mixing, while cooking.

    Cook until forms a thread or reaches 234 degrees on candy thermometer.

    Add 3-4 tablespoons of beaten egg whites.
  5. 5
    Put syrup back on stove and cook to cracked ball stage or reaches 270 degrees.

    Add egg whites and beat until looses its glossiness.

    Add nuts and drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper.
