- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
- 6 tablespoons vegetable shortening or virgin or extra-virgin coconut oil
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
- Kosher salt
Directions

1Melt the chocolate, shortening, vanilla and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, until smooth, about 4 minutes.

2Pour the melted chocolate mixture into a small bowl.

3Pour over ice cream and let harden, or use as a coating for snacks like fruit or pretzels.
