  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable shortening or virgin or extra-virgin coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • Kosher salt

    Melt the chocolate, shortening, vanilla and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, until smooth, about 4 minutes.
