  • Italian turkey sausages, removed from casings
  • 2-1/4 qt. fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1-1/2 cups green peppers, chopped
  • 1-1/2 cups red peppers, chopped
  • 1-1/2 cups onions, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. dried thyme leaves
  • 2 cups Cheez Whiz Cheese Spread, divided
  • 4-1/2 qt. Thick whole wheat bread slices, torn into bite-size pieces
  • 2 cups Kraft Shredded Medium Cheddar Cheese, divided
  • 18 each eggs
  • 4-1/2 cups milk

    For each 8-serving strata: Crumble 1 lb.

    (450 g) sausage into large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat; cook 3 to 5 min.

    or until done, stirring frequently to break up sausage.

    Add 3 cups (750 mL) mushrooms, 1/2 cup (125 mL) each red peppers, green peppers and onions, and 1 tsp.

    (5 mL) thyme; cook 3 to 5 min.

    or until vegetables are crisp-tender, stirring frequently.

    Remove from heat.

    Stir in 1/3 cup (75 mL) Cheez Whiz.

    Set aside to cool slightly.

    Place 1-1/2 qt.

    bread in half-size 2-inch hotel pan or in 13x9-inch baking dish lightly sprayed with cooking spray.

    Whisk 6 eggs, 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) milk and 1/3 cup (75 mL) Cheez Whiz until well blended; pour over sausage mixture.
