- 1 1/2 c. Dr. Pepper
- 1 c. Quick oats
- 1/2 c. shortening or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1In a medium saucepan, bring the Dr. Pepper to a boil.

2Pour over the oats.

3Let cool.

4Cream together the shortening (or margarine) and sugar.

5Add eggs and beat until mixture is fluffy. Sift together brown sugar, flour, salt, soda and cinnamon and add to the creamed mixture.

6Stir in Dr. Pepper mixture and vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.

7Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes or until done. Remove from oven and spread topping over cake.
