- 3 c. field peas or split peas
- 2 lb. salt pork
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 1 celery stalk, sliced
- 1 pt. strong chicken stock
- 1 tsp. summer savory (sauriette)
Directions

1Put the peas in cold water first thing in the morning.

2At 10 o'clock, put peas in kettle with a gallon of water, salt pork, onion, carrot and the celery.

3When simmered for 1 1/2 hours, add the chicken stock and summer savory.

4Simmer for another 1 1/2 hours.

5Rub through a strainer and enjoy.
