Dutch Apple Cake

- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. milk
- 3/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1 apple, peeled and sliced very thin
- sugar, cinnamon and butter
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar; add egg and beat well.

2Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla.

3Mix well.

4Pour cake mixture into a well-greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.

5Arrange apple slices on top of dough, pressing sharp edge into batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and dot with butter.

6Bake at 350° for 25 to 35 minutes.

7Serve warm with lemon sauce or vanilla ice cream.
