  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. milk
  • fresh apples with skins sliced thin
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Sift the dry ingredients 3 times (with the exception of the cinnamon); cut in the shortening and add the egg and milk, which have been mixed together.

    Mix thoroughly.

    Pour into a well-greased oblong pan and cover with apples which are sliced. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon and bake in a moderate oven (350°) for 35 minutes.
