- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 2 c. boiling water
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cake yeast or 1 dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 6 c. flour
Directions

1Stir in cornmeal to boiling water and mix well.

2Add shortening, molasses and salt and set aside to cool.

3Dissolve the yeast in the warm water for 5 minutes.

4Add flour and cornmeal mix; knead until smooth and put in greased bowl in warm place and let rise until double in size.

5Knead; let rise again.

6Bake at 375° for 1 hour.
