Ingredients
- 1/3 c. self-rising cornmeal
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. fast-rising yeast
- 1 tsp. anise seed
- 1 tsp. fennel seed
- 3 c. flour, divided
- 1 c. water
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 lightly beaten egg
Directions

1In large bowl, combine cornmeal, 1 cup of the flour, sugar, salt and yeast.

2In saucepan, heat water, molasses, butter, fennel and anise seed to 120°.

3Pour over dry ingredients.

4Beat in egg and 1 cup of the flour.

5Then add last cup of flour.

6Knead lightly.
-
7Put in two small bread pans or one regular size pan. Put in warm place and let rise until doubled.

8Bake for 30 minutes in a 375° oven.
