- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon double-acting baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup shortening
- 34 cup milk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425.

2In large bowl, with fork, mix flour, baking powder and salt.

3With pastry blender or 2 knives used scissor fashion, cut in shortening until mix resembles coarse crumbs; add milk.

4With fork, quickly mix just until mixture forms soft dough that leaves the sides of the bowl.

5Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead 6 to 8 strokes to mix thouroughly.

6With floured rolling pin, lightly roll out dough, lifting rolling pin near edges to keep dough evenly thick.

7Roll dough 1/2 inch thick.

8Cut biscuits into 1 inch wide strips and into square (or rectangle, depending on how big you like them) biscuits.

9Place biscuits onto ungreased cookie sheet nearly touching.

10Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden.
