  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. shortening*
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. sour milk
  • 1 tsp. each: baking powder, salt and baking soda
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. boiling water

Directions

    Mix ingredients in the order given.

    Mix when all ingredients are in the bowl, starting with the egg and ending with the boiling water.

    Place in two 9-inch cake tins.

    Bake in a 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Frost when cool.
